"Rap is in my blood, so when I write this I bleed." These lyrics embody my approach to music. I like music that is emotional and heart-felt, so that is the music I try to create.
My name is Michael Yadao-Evans. I was born in Hilo, Hawaii. I started making beats and trying to write raps around the 9th grade. At that time I was really into Eminem. Eminem's music really stuck with me, as I was amazed at his ability to string words together. I was also intrigued by the raw emotion he put into his music. Namely the anger spoke to me as a young, angsty teenager. Understandably, my early stuff sounded like Eminem from the SSLP-MMLP days. Then more emotional and personal with The Eminem Show onwards.
I eventually branched out to Linkin Park. With their album, Minutes to Midnight, I gained an appreciation for taking risks and changing up your style. That opened up the floodgates. I have taken inspiration from Tech N9ne, Regina Spektor, and Porter Robinson to name a few. More recently I have been tapping more into my laid-back side, as I feel less angsty in my thirties.
Thank you for checking out my music and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it! (which is a lot)
